Ash Grove Park

This is walking distance from my apartment, 2.3 miles away (4.6 mile roundtrip!), on a really hot day, without bringing any water, so the kids were getting grumpy. But I enjoyed running and walking there. It was a nice neighborhood park: walking path, small park, grass. I don't think we'll ever make the walk here again though because the kids would probably throw a fit. :)

We're too big for these.
I'm too tired for this.

Please just let me rest.

This is actually Cherry Creek. We pass it on the way home.

City of Potenza Park

This is within walking distance of our apartment, near Garland Park. It has a nice walking path all the way around and a small playground, that is geared for smaller children. It seems like a nice neighborhood park and one we would go if we lived there. It's also near Cherry Creek and the Cherry Creek Trail.

Resting? Sunbathing?

This is at Garland Park actually. It's on the way to Potenza.

Eastmoor Park

This is a nice sized neighborhood park. The playground itself was more for younger kids, but there was a lot of grass, a trail around it, and Cainen had fun because these two guys brought motorized toy airplanes. So we sat in the grass and watched that for a while.

That's Cainen on the right corner, if you couldn't tell.
And the airplane to the left, middle.

Rosamond Park

This is a really nice park. It has everything you could want: trail, lots of grass, playground, stream, and it's big. It was also really pretty because all the weedy flowers are growing and the trees are starting to get their leaves too.

Paul A. Hentzell Park

Cainen and I liked this park. It's more of a trail park, for walking, running, and biking. There wasn't a playground as far as I could tell, but there was Cherry Creek that ran through it which was fun. It's also really close to Hampden Heights, so if you wanted a playground you could always walk there.

The thing I didn't like about it was the neighborhood. We were trying to figure out where to park, and there were a ton of towing signs, so we had to park at Babi Yar park. And there were just a lot of keep out, security, towing signs everywhere that it felt a little unfriendly. Like, what are these people so afraid of!? Other than that though, it was a nice park.

See if you can spot Cainen.

See if you can spot the duck.

United Nations Park

I didn't even realize this was a separate park since it's right next to the Civic Center Park, and I just found out there's a little tiny corner with a fountain that's named Pioneer Monument Park. All three are clustered right together so I'm not sure what the point is of making them three different parks.

There wasn't anything at this specific park except a little bit of grass and a lot of benches and seating areas. You get a nice view of the buildings in the back and different government buildings as well. I gave this 3 stars just because you're right next to a ton of stuff- 16th street mall, the main library, the art center, etc.

Also, no sign! Which was so irritating to me.

Civic Center Park

The Civic Center Park had a huge Cinco de Mayo celebration all weekend, so we went here on Sunday. I really wanted to see the Chihuahua Races, but only got to see a little bit of it because there was such a huge crown. There was so much going on that I'm not really sure what this park would look like without a ton of people, but it seemed like a nice park. There looks to be a fountain but it wasn't running while we were there. They had a ton of vendors, music, food. We got some tacos to share. I thought about getting a shot of tequila- I've never tried- but Nic said it would knock me out, so I thought it wasn't the best idea. It was cool because they had a band who was singing Beyonce. We had a really good time.

Oh, and we could not find an official park sign to save our life. So I kind of feel like without the sign, it's like we didn't actually go, but dammit! I've got a picture of little racing chihuahuas to prove it!

"got me lookin' so crazy right now"

QUE BUENO!!!

You can kind of see the two little chihuahuas running.

Quality Hill Park

We were going to the Civic Center Park and saw this on the way. Basically though, it's a tiny corner of a block with some grass and benches. There really wasn't anything to it at all. It's not anything that I think kids would like to play at. It did look pretty popular for homeless guys. As you can see from the pics- that is about what you get at this park.
